Leveraging a storied career in the justice system spanning more than 25 years, expert attorney Deena Williamson currently serves as General Counsel of IBEX Global. An outsourcing company based in Washington, D.C., with offices worldwide, IBEX Global supplies an array of customer service solutions to mid- to large-sized businesses. As one of her primary roles in this executive position, Deena Williamson works to ensure any legal matters related to IBEX Global are handled in compliance with the law, including that of data security.
With nearly daily reports of data breaches of major companies across the U.S. and abroad, knowledge, training, and experience in data security law is an increasingly in-demand skillset. As a way to ensure companies are adhering to the latest cybersecurity procedures and to boost marketability to current and prospective clients, law firms throughout the country are applying for and working towards receiving data security certification from the International Organization for Standardization (ISO).
The ISO is the establishment responsible for setting the global standards for professionals and companies in their respective sectors. A 2015 survey revealed that, at the time, 18 firms had received the certification and 33 more were close to completing the process, suggesting the numbers will only continue to grow, as certification serves as a compelling means of assuring clients that their information is safe and secure.
